6”x1” power carved cherry dome. Learned how to do this relief leaf power carving in a recent class with Sammy Long.
That's a class I would really like to take. My attempts at power carving are rather pathetic.
 
@Art Betke I had already been doing power carving, but Sammy Long’s class helped me take it to a new level. I first saw Sammy at the SWAT Symposium in Waco, Texas last August. I highly recommend Sammy Long if you get a chance.
 
This has got to be one of the most naturally beautiful pieces I have seen. The medium is the purpose skillfully manipulated into sheer beauty bringing the base to the source replication to live a second life. Well done sir!
