Firewood 3

Firewood 3

Firewood 3

Wood: Eucalyptus
Diam: 165mm
Height: 75mm
Wall thickness: 2 to 2.5mm

This is the third piece in this series and yes it is or was a piece of firewood!
My friend and I were cutting our firewood for the winter and I grabbed a few pieces that looked like they had nice grain, before they went on the trailer. This piece had a knot or small branch running through one edge, which created some great figuring in the wood. My friend made a comment "if you keep this up we wont have any wood left." I have another two pieces a bit bigger and I will turn them soon.

I turned this at our Woodturning Jamboree on the weekend and managed to pick up the best piece award in the Traditional woodturning category. I was hoping to get more pieces turned over the weekend but there is always a lot to organise when you are running an event like our jamboree and only managed the one piece!
