"Ginger jar" I

Cherry vessel dyed red, given a coat of spray lacquer, dyed again. Then walnut and maple stains applied with a sea sponge, and several more coats of lacquer. Comments welcome.
I like your jar very much for the red coloring and shape. I think I would have chosen a less patterned wood for the top though. The striped pattern of that wood contrasts too sharply with the mottled effect of the dye and stains. Would have looked better with a plain white wood or dark wood.

Michael,
Your ginger jar color and finish are terrific! I have to agree that an ebony or holly finial would add to the piece. Overall, very nice.
