More in the epoxy experiment phase. I completed the most recent of this group last night and will post shots of that shortly. This piece is approx. 6" tall and 2 3/4" at the widest. Trying to test the structural limits of turning epoxy. Comments?
Hi Chip,
Thanks for the post and the rating. I don't do too much to get rid of air bubbles except that I notice if I use the epoxy as a gel coat (as on this piece) it smooths the material down nicely. I use a cheap acrylic paint brush and a light coat of epoxy and it blends out nicely. I also use a slow setting epoxy and perhaps that helps. The newest piece - Walnut w/ Green Epoxy is not as smooth a finish as this piece, but it's also mostly wood shavings, then I used the "paint-on-thin" coating before buffing with car wax. Gotta play!
