Ed. This looks like the natual color of the wood, but it looks much different than the other London Plane piece #550. Is this a difference between the sapwood/heartwood? What is the overall wall thickness. Very pretty wood and form.
Paul, The brown is basically where part of this piece was beginning to decay. The wall thickness is about 1/4" except for the top. The opening is about 1" thick tapering gradually to the 1/4" wall thickness. The transition is very smooth so when you fell inside the opening, there are no shart edges or undercuts.
