Horoeka

Horoeka

Horoeka (Releaf 10)

Wood: Spalted Sycamore?
Length: 300mm ( 11-3/4")
Height: 110mm (4-1/4")

Horoeka is the tenth piece in this series and the leaf design is based on the leaf of the mature Horoeka tree (Lancewood). I have left more wood showing on this piece because I didn't want to cover any of the spalting.
Comments welcome
Very Nice Robbie ,Like the contrast between the wood and texture .You did good leaving as much wood showing as you could
Cheers

Wonderful piece, Robbie! Could you go into more detail about this? In the larger shot it almost looks like you've pierced the top @ the leaf center and it is hollow?? Does the top come off? Is the black paint or burned?

Thanks Guys,
The top is pierced and it is a hollow vessel. It is all one piece and there is an insert in the top. The texture is pyrography then painted and no the top doesn't come off. The thickness of the piece is about the same all over 2 to 4 mm thick.
I hope this explains what you wanted to know.
Cheers,
Robbie

Very nice pc. and very original. well done

Robbie, this piece is very organic, with the added bonus of the texturing! Very nice!
