"It's Lonely at the Top."

I wasn't sure where I was going to start other than trying to render an interpretation of the myriad eroded sandstone columns in the desert southwest of the US but inspiration is as often a process as it is an event. I looked at some photos of actual landforms but purposely did not print photos to reference. Abstraction from the actual is much of what I find that is challenging and satisfying in the creation of art. Treading a line between the draftsman's accuracy and the cartoonist's caricature sometimes I hit, sometimes I miss........
