Kauri Steps

Kauri Steps is now part of my private collection , and on the top of the list for one of my favorite woods to turn.
This piece is from Rick Taylor, the kiwi and I hope I did this piece justice. If you need some ancient swamp kauri carbon dated at 3860 years he's the man to go too. www.thewoodturnersstudio.co.nz.
The figure in this stuff is amazing.
I love my new idea about the steps carved into the rim, I had to add it to this piece and give it some flare. This is now my new favorite piece.
It is just under 8" diameter and stands 3.5" tall , my carved rim feature. Finished with three coats of waterlox and buffed with the Beal buff system.
