Labyrinth turning

It's carved out of a whole piece of wood. I used 14 special tools for this complicated shape.
it's a wonder, pics of tools, what kind of wood , what would be in same family of this wood
 
Hmm.... I'd say the special tools were fed into the main slot in horizontal orientation then slowly rotated to vertical to do their cutting.
