Mallee Wave

Mallee Wave

This is something that has been rattling around in the back of my mind for a while. This piece of Brown Mallee just fit the bill. Wave form was turned as a offset vase, the left side being the top. I cut the side of the vase out to form the wave. Finish is satin lacquer. The two spinner dolphins are turned from ebony with some sapwood. Fins are Ebony and slotted in, and glued. Finish is gloss lacquer. Overall dimensions are 8"x6"x5". What do you think. Is it too much. Critiques always welcome, and appreciated. Dolphin idea came from my trip to Maui, to see my son, Bill. We went scuba diving with the dolphins off the coast of Lanai. It was amazing.
very nice, i continue to look for your additions to the gallery, it works

This is a nice composition with good balance and subtle beauty. And it can serve as an inspiration: we all have dozens of beautiful wood chunks squirreled away, waiting for us to find forms for them.
