Manzanita Fountain
Rick Urban

Manzanita Fountain

Manzanita Fountain came from some of the manzanita root burls salvaged from the wildfires around Los Angeles c. 2011. After plenty of postage to UPS and chain saw chains dulled by the dirt and rocks, I was able to get som nice pieces. This one turned out well enough to earn a 1st place in 3D art at the Flagler County Art League's 2012 spring show. The finish is lacquer and it measured about 12 by 6 inches.
Rick I like the natural raw beauty of this piece, to me when I first looked it resembled a waterfall and then I read the title, well done It was worth the chains to harvest that wood.

Thanks much, Dave. I love the burls from down under, but we have plenty here to amaze us as well.
