Maple bowl w/ Rosewood pin stripe
Scott Regenbogen

Maple bowl w/ Rosewood pin stripe

11" dia. x 4 1/2" h. - A simple form with a uniform thickness of about 1/16". This is one of the more "useful" shapes I've done in a while, but it seeemd to go with the size of the blank and the location of the pin stripe. The pin stripe is a 1/12" thick piece of rosewood veneer, which is what seemed to dictate the overall thickness.
Nice Bowl!! The shape is great. The pinstripe in the thumbnail made be look twice and click on the larger image.

Did you align the grain with all three pieces?

John

Hey John,
Thanks for the compliments. I aligned the grain in the 2 maple pieces and the veneer runs length wise - parallel to the grain of the maple. The bottom piece is what many turners call ambrosia maple and the top piece is hard maple with some weird places, and I like weird.
