Mexican Bocote Lidded Box

Mexican Bocote Lidded Box

This blank really got my attention when I saw it, and here is the finished result. I added a little recess detail into the lid. Box is 3.25 inches high and 2.25 inches in diameter. Finished with gloss lacquer. The sapwood contrast and the workability of the wood make this box really nice.
Excellent, nice crisp details. I especially like the crosshatch pattern on the lid created by the intersection of the medullary rays and the grain pattern.

Bocote is a great wood, sometimes wild and crazy! That lid detail really sets this piece off Gabriel!! Excellent!!
