Mutant 2
Robbie Graham

Mutant 2

Woods: Vessel, Matai. Leaf and Stem, Jarrah and Tawa and the tongue, Rewarewa driftwood.
Length: 500mm (19-5/8")
Height: 160mm (6-1/4")

The seed pod is based on a deformed Pittosporum seed, which had two sections instead of three and thought it would work well with this piece. It's a cross between Mutant 1 and Kohuhu a seed pod piece I did a few years back.

I entered it into a Manawatu Open Day woodturning competition on Sunday and got the best unturned piece the Wellington Woodworkers Trophy. Not quite sure where the judge was coming from but you can never tell what will happen on the day!!!
very nice

Quite an interesting piece. Very nice. Your title, "Mutant", and the pod remind me of Audry in the Little Shop of Horrors, if you are familiar with that stage play.

Thanks Guys.
Hal, someone else told me that on the weekend but I didn't know what they were talking about because I never heard of the play. Must look it up.

Nice job! It did remind me of little shop of horrors. Now you have to create a companion piece called Seymour!

Thanks Don.

Dale, I had teeth in my concept drawing but decided it was a bit much, it did look more Audry II with the teeth tho. Thanks for the comment.
Cheers,
Robbie
