[B][I]Octopian[/I][/B]

I made some drawings for a sculptural piece as an entry into a contemporary art show here in the southland. [B][I]Octopian[/I][/B] is the manifestation of those drawings.

[B][I]Octopian[/I][/B] is segmented, and carved from eight pieces of Black Cherry.

I like it! I have a place at the beaches and artists around here are always striving to come up with sea inspired pieces. This would fit right in. Keep up the good work!

That's a good point, Joe, regarding the designation of sides.

And you're an astute observer, Odie. The only lathe action on this piece, was the employment of a pneumatic sanding drum between centers.

One thing that may not be apparent in this view, is that the top of each "arm" has a knife edge on the majority of it's length, becoming rounded where it meets the core and just slightly rounded at each tip.
