"Purpose Precedes Pretty"

I'm intrigued and often inspired by some very mechanical bits such as we saw on an abandoned railroad bridge. Girders, beams, giant rivets, nuts, bolts and these huge turnbuckles attached to long steel rods several inches in diameter whose only purpose is to keep the triangles that form the trusses equilateral. They are wonderful and demanded to be photographed and we obliged.
I used Tree of Heaven to form the body and Black Walnut for the "threaded" rod, hook and eye. Pyrotextured, dyed and colored with Guilders Paste. 21" x 3-1/2"
Thank you for looking!
I definitely agree with Russ. This is a wonderful trompe l'oeil sculpture. Love it.
