Sculpted ash vessel #1

Sculpted ash vessel #1

Turned then carved green ash vessel 21x24x20" tall.
[brain cramping...] OK, just how did you get the ripples? To me, it seems that the piece must have been turned thin, then steamed til pliable and put on some kind of form to dry. That just makes more sense to me than turning a piece 3 inches thick and carving it down to a wavy 1/16" wall, especially while retaining the bark!
Please clear up the muddle in my head!

Interested in the starting piece was it dry? Did you use chainsaw and other power tools? I think both pieces are magnificent. Whats the finish?
