Alan turned the 2.5" maple sphere, Lauren embellished it with archival inks. Alan designed the tower base as a parametric 3D model, and printed it with black wood filament.
I hope to see Lauren’s archival ink demo in Portland.

Quite often a cool base like that overpowers the piece it supports becoming the main focus of the eye.
I find the piece is so strong visually that the base works well with it.
Thanks for the kind words. As you likely already know, Lauren and I enjoy combining media and techniques. Some folks are in the strictly 'brown and round' camp, while we use whatever it takes to either produce something that we previsualize, or just enjoy playing with new toys. It's one of the things that keeps the hobby fun for us.
