Telescope GEM Mount Finished

The telescope GEM mount is finished. I'm working now on the last phase of the telescope, the veneering, layout and assembly of the OTA (Optical Tube Assembly) Not long now... Of course, as amateur telescope builders say, a scope is never "done". I'm already considering some modifications like the addition of setting circles, better quality casters, etc. But I might think about those things as "future prospects" and just get it put together and working.
It's great to see all of the pieces of the GEM together. It's a real beauty. Don't take too long on the OTA ... the universe won't be around forever. :D I hope that you don't have to hand grind the mirror.

I should be able to get it done relatively soon now. As to mirror grinding, I'm not going there! I got a super deal on a pristine 8" f6 mirror set ($25 and two hamburgers and the guy even delivered the glass!) so that part is covered.

Just a super project David, and loaded with love only a grandpa could give a grandchild. The skills you have are truly on display with this and are admirable indeed!
