Tribal Patterns (1 of 2))

3rd pedestal bowl in current series. Total height is approx. 14", bowl is about 5" diameter. Pedestal is maple covered in 6 coats of leather dye (first 3 red, then 3 black. Pedestal is then returned to lathe for the circular incised cuts. Removed from lathe and carved. Loosely based on petroglyphs I have seen and skethced or rubbed onto paper. Bowl is a beaded BLM Burl. Round bottom bowl nestles into a slight depression in the top of the pedestal.

As always, comments and critiques are welcomed.
Dick, I see that you are continuing on from the "Magi" series. Looking good from here. I prefer the more tapered bottom of this one but I like them both. Please continue with your exploration.
