Tulip Hollow Form

Tulip Hollow Form

I just finished this one today. Plain Maple hollow form. Carved, textured, and burned. Oil/Poly finish.
Just beautiful Chris. The detail, carving, burning is superb. How did you achieve the shading effects? Burner? Torch? Fascinating.

The shading was done with a torch. I really tired to aim the torch at the edge. I put the flame on the piece just a little bit at a time to make sure the piece didn't blacken too quickly. I was really nervous about doing this. I had spent a lot of time on the piece up to this point. I didn't want to ruin it on the last step.

very nice
