Walnut Platter

Walnut Platter

14.5"x.75", Black Walnut, Maple
The platter was turned and the handles were carved from maple and walnut laminated stock then inserted.
I retained the rectangular handles shape to contrast with the round platter but I'm not sure if it was the right choice. It may have been better to ovalize the handles. What do you think? Please post all comments.
Nice wood, nice form, nice finish.
Someone will always have a different opinion about shape, form etc, that's what makes art critics.
This is art, go with your gut. If it's not right, make it so.
In MY opinion, this is a nice looking platter. I would be proud to show and use it (and I would have been quite happy to be the designer/turner).

Just another opinion for what it is worth: how about curving the inner edge of the handles to match the curvature of the bowl? Probably with slightly rounded corners to avoid a sharp edge. (I've lost skin too many times to "crisp" edges!)

Regardless, it is a very nice platter as it stands right now.
