Yew vessel- design opportunity!

This blank was split at the top, so I had to incorporate the split as part of the final design. 4"Wx7 1/2"H
Jamie, I keep coming back and looking at this. Something about it really appeals to me...so much so that I have thought about doing one of these in mini form as a first carving experiment. Of course I wouldn't want to be accused of plaigarism, though! LOL

Jamie, I wanted you to know that I've looked at this piece over and over for quite a while between here and WOW. I like to take my time because often my first impression changes. I really like this piece. It is very sensual. The wood is so beautiful and your form is impeccable. The carved portion is soft and inviting which allows a glimpse of the inside. Beautiful piece!

Jamie, It seems I'm not alone in coming back to look at this repeatedly. I first saw it at the symposium in Kentucky and snapped a photo of it. Everything about it fits together beautifully: form, proportion, shape, and the wood and its grain. It is truly an outstanding piece. I'm going to try one but the wood I have is spalted ash, and I don't think will look nearly as good.
