Couple of folks wondered what one of my flower petal pieces would look like without the color on the burl. Well I did one and thought it has an interesting look. Not as eye catching but nice. Flower is maple burl with African blackwood stem; almost 13 tall. What do you think? Comments...
Spring might be my favorite time of the year, wild flowers in bloom, trees budding, spending more time enjoying Mother Natures canvas. Wanted to express the joy of the coming of spring when all creatures and plants start to wake from the long cold winter.

My most recent series of flower goblets. From left to right the flowers are tan oak, eucalyptus, apple. The stems were turned and carved from bay. Dye and acrylic paints used for the finishes.

2.75"x9.5", Pear & Honey Locust. Dyed and painted.
The foot & leaf stem is turned from pear while the flower was turned from honey locust then inserted. Carving done with rotary tools. Relieved grain achieved using 3M radial bristle wheels.
