I wanted to share with you a gift I received from England this week.
I meet and became friends with Stuart Mortimer a little over two years ago after taking a class from him here in Houston.
He is an incredible turner - make that Artist as many of you already know.
He had mentioned about a year ago he was going to make me something. Well he shipped it to me and it survived. It's incredible and I am very proud to own it. He really didn't need to do this for me but I am glad he did.
He refers to this as his signature style (he auctioned off two similar ones at the NC turning symposium I believe back in October).
The wood is Yew with a blackwood threaded finial.
It's about 11" high and 5"1/2 wide - very light in weight.
Oh and before anyone tells me - please forgive the pictures - I realized I really need to work at picture taking (and I need stands for my lights) I realize that I have about a dozen things wrong in these pictures and if I get to work them out better I will replace these
Hope you enjoy
