Our club (Central Oklahoma Woodturning Association) likes to have someone come and do a live demonstration and then do several days of hands-on classes for members once or twice a year. I know a lot of demonstrators have gone to Remote demonstrations but is there a list or place to find names of demonstrators who still travel to a club for demonstrations and classes.

Log into Woodturner.org, then go to “resources”, then “find a…”, then “demonstrator”. In the fields, put United States for the country and in the field “find by level or type” select local and regional. If you hit search with just those fields filled in, you will find loads of demonstrators listed alphabetically. You can narrow it down further with the other fields. And, since I am a terrible self promoter, I’ll throw out the shameless plug that I will travel to demonstrate :)

I'm a travellin' man! Never did get set up for remote, I prefer in-person. Here's a demo I recently did on picture frame boxes for Rocky Mountain Woodturners and my other specialties are shallow bowls with a wide rim & an ogee form & the use of dyes on figured wood. I'll be a demonstrator at the Rocky Mountain Woodturning Symposium this September and I'm a three-time Arrowmont instructor. Shoot me a message, I'd love to come out!

One thing that might work for you is checking out the SWAT roster every year.

Our clubs have invited Florida symposium demonstrators to stay over or come early and do 3-5 day workshops and demos if the club meeting day is in the window. We coordinate with the symposium on travel make sure everyone knows who pays what.
On several occasions a club a hundred miles away books the demonstrator for something after. This works great for the demonstrator. 2 gigs for one trip sometimes 3.

You probably have members driving to SWAT who can transport the turner…

We usually started classes on Tuesday as most students would be at the Florida symposium and need Monday to rest up and shift gears into student mode. We often used Monday to go canoeing… one demonstrator used the day to visit collectors in the area.
