Please check out the "Whats New and Help" Thread at https://aawforum.org/community/index.php?threads/forum-upgrade-whats-new-and-help-march-2021.17436/ If you are having problems using the forums, please clear your browser cache and that should clear up any issues. Otherwise post in the Help Thread or email us at forum_moderator@aawforum.org. Hope you enjoy the refreshed site!
  • 3/30/21 - We finished what was hopefully the last part of the forum upgrade we started earlier this month, the rebuilding of all of the permissions. In our testing everything seems to be working correctly but if you have any problems please post in the "Forum Technical Support" forum and we will take a look at it. You will also see a few changes with the main forum index. We have moved the AAW Member Forums to their own group and the Marketplace Forums to their own group. This simplified the permissions configuration for the forums and hopefully it will make the forums a little easier to naviagate. Thanks!

Cored Chinese Elm Set

Cored Chinese Elm Set

This Chinese Elm set was rough cored in 2007 5 years ago. Warping was considerable after 5 years but surprisingly enough, no cracking at all. The thickness of each rough turned bowl was the commonly used 10 % of the diameter of each. Even after voiding all of the moisture content, they remained considerably densely heavy and did not turn as easy as other woods I have cored. The bowls are finished with Mike Mahoneys Walnut Oil and Wax which really popped the grain. From the large bowl to the smallest, their sizes are 12 Dia. X 4, 9 Dia. X 2, 6.5 Dia. X 1.5 and 3.75 Dia. X .75.
Thank you Odie! I have cored a few bowl sets but none have had the beautiful look that these present to my eye anyway. This set shows nature at it's best. Thanks again Odie for liking them.
