1874 Claro Walnut Burl

Finished Oct 19, 2021.....As received, was kiln dried, and had an initial MC of 12%.....still, I monitored the roughed bowl, and found that it lost 0.3 oz over a period of 7 months. I was very careful with this piece, because it's an incredibly rare and highly figured example with outstanding contrasting colors. There is a natural burl edge on one side that I was able to preserve.....IMHO, it came out just right! This burl was harvested in the state of Oregon, in 2011. Size: 9 7/8" x 1 1/2", 12.9 oz. Sanded to 600gt, Danish Oil Natural, Beall 3-step buffed.
Nice figure and I like that you included the natural edge.
I bought two (heavily waxed) CW Burl blocks more than 5 yrs. ago to make some "special" cremation urns. I better get to it before I kick! .... I'm such a procrastinator. I hope the figure in those blocks are as nice as your bowl.

I've had blocks of wood that both surprised and disappointed......let's hope your CWB are surprises! Thanks for commenting, Tom...:)
