1907 African Zebrawood.

1907 African Zebrawood.

Original block of wood was 16% MC, and after roughing and anchorseal, it took a total of 5 months to stabilize. Final size is 7 7/8" x 1 3/4", and weighs 9.5 oz. This shape is actually a spin-off of what my standardized foot has become. I believe I'll do this shape again. Inward slanted rim.

As beautiful as this wood is, I'm surprised it doesn't sell like hotcakes!

Nice one Odie with your usual crisp lines. I dont see much in the way of exotics down here, they are priced like gold per gram :)

Howdy Hughie...... :)

I'll bet you get a good price on those beautiful Australian burls, though.......God, how I love those!

Yes it would probably make you cry :) . But the funny thing is I rarely turn them, I have a half dozen or so on the shelf they have been there for maybe10 years. They can be mind bogglingly jarring to turn especially those that come from dead trees. Whatever you sell the turned piece for, you have earned it many times over.

Yes, that is a fact......they are hard and dense. Australian burls can be a bit difficult to turn. It can be done, but they are not recommended for newbies! :)

Take care, Hughie.....
