#2235 Australian Red Mallee Burl

Completed 8/26/2023, Australian Red Mallee Burl, 7 7/8" x 3", 14.6 oz. Original bowl block had 20% MC, and after roughing, it took a total of 10 months to stabilize. The more detail grooves, the more difficult to maintain spacing that satisfies the subconscious senses, but this one turned out to my satisfaction. 13 grooves here. As usual, these Australian burls can get a bit difficult to get a perfect cut, while eliminating the need for any powered sanding. Only a minimal amount of hand sanding was required.

Janka Hardness: 2,490 lbf (11,060 N)

Excellent detailing as usual, Odie. Hard to tell from the angle of the photo, but it looks like the line of your form continues through the decorative band ... I like that kind of detail.

Thank you, Tom.....:)

Yes, since I've gotten comments about this very thing from others, it's become something I do think about while shaping a bowl.

Odie, I so appreciate your pure form of turning to help celebrate Great pieces of wood. To me, it's what sets your art apart from the crowd.
