Blackwood and Burl Box

Blackwood and Burl Box

This little 5” x 3” box is made of African Blackwood and Redwood burl. I drew up a plan that I followed mostly, but it is influenced by two wood turners that I was fortunate to see demonstrate at an Ohio Valley Woodturners Symposium. That would be Steven Kennard and Ray key.

Seeing that I didn’t buy anything online and couldn’t go shopping, I decided to make a box for my wife’s birthday. It turned out to be a bigger job than I thought, partly because of mistakes that I made. I got it done this morning just in time for Cindy’s birthday today.
