Buckeye Burl Platter

Hi Folks!
This platter kind of gave me a run for my money. It had a ton (OK, half a ton) of sand, gravel and little rocks in most of the bark inclusions. I could only cut for about 3" before I had to reach for another tool, or re-sharpen. The contrast between the soft, and in places, punky wood made it a challenge to sand or cut. I even went through 1-1/2 Hunter carbide tips getting it done. Anyway, this is what came out of it.
It's 17.5" dia. and finished with Tung Oil and Beall buffed.
All comments are more than welcome and thanks for looking.

Lovely piece Don, you have to concentrate turning a piece of timber like this, looks like it has battled its way thru a world war. great result :)
