Cocoon
Cherry wood. Turned, carved, textured, acrylic paints. 6 3/4" in length, 2 1/2" in diameter.
The implied movement of this piece, as though it's a strange blossom or pod slowly unfolding, is lovely. It looks like it would feel nice to hold as well.
