AAW January 2010 Contest

This bowl (top view) is a small part of a few large bark slabs that were laying in the mud at a local backwoods saw mill waiting for the fire pile. This is what was underneath. I love those guys! It's spalted and figured maple, 13" dia.X 4" tall. The bottom is raised just a tad so the bowl doesn't sit flat. Finished with Tung Oil and Renaissance wax. Thanks for looking and all comments welcome, Don L.
Don, that is one gorgeous hunk of wood, and you did it justice!!

Thanks so much, Ed. So far I've gotten about 20 bowls/platters out of that "firewood". Now that the Christmas presents are done I have to make one for the guy who gave it to me.
Thanks again, Don L.
