"The Comet"

This somewhat whimsical piece is a bit of a departure for me. I think the splayed out "tail" gives it a nice bit of motion. The detail shots in the next photo show the construction and design better.

It's made of hormigo negro, figured sycamore, wenge, glass orb,and brass wire. The orb is really a marble, but "orb" sounds so much more impressive, doesn't it?

It's 16"long by 7 1/2" (diameter of the vessel), by 4" high.
Alan, I saw this in person at your meeting last month! Thanks for making a Virginia guy feel at home in the not so cold north! At least, it wasn't cold when I was there....

I think I got a couple good shots of this piece for your newsletter. Very impressive piece!!
