Black Ash Bowl

Between summer chores and roughing some burls I have not had time to finish much. I finished this black ash bowl, 9.5x3.5, yesterday. It was nice to finish something for a change. I chose this form and a low luster finish (many coats of thinned Waterlox) to keep it a simple bowl. I chose the slightly spalted black ash because of the narrow growth rings. They do not get much growing time up here. Comments welcome and appreciated.

Back at you on shape, George. Black ash sure soaks up a lot of finish, doesn't it? Can't find much that's of any size here that's not full of wind shakes. I love it in flat work, but haven't had much to turn other than boards for the last four years.
