Black-on-black with feather pattern Hollow Form.

Inspired by black-on-black pottery from Maria Martinez from San Ildefonso, New Mexico from the 1920s.
This hollow form is turned from Cherry and died black with ink. The surface texturing displays the feather pattern. 7 inches in diameter, 5.5 inches tall.
I love the color , the shape and the texture. How Nice

Gorgeous Lyle. We were recently at the Museum of the American Indian in DC and saw similar ceramic ones. You’ve really captured the style.

Very nicely executed, Lyle. This classical SW style is quite different from Euro-American forms. Not long ago, I heard that ancient amphora were shaped to fit the hull of the ships that carried them. Do you know why this particular shape was used in pottery made by these people?

I love the hand made feel of this piece and the use of texture to create the feathers. The contrast between the smooth and texture really sets the piece off.
