The Rookery. A piece that I dubbed the forever piece as it has been on my bench for at least a year. I have contemplated painting the scene, but for now at least, have decided to leave it as a relief carving without color.

It’s a really excellent piece as it is.
 
I agree with Mark. Please don’t paint it.
 
I think it is beautiful as is! Your photography is good but it probably looks different in person in different lighting situations. I rarely look at a black and white photo of something and wish it was in color. I feel the same about this piece.
 
I love it too as it is. Only thing I would consider would be to darken some of the shadows to add some contrast?
