Small segmented helix using red oak and walnut. I am still working out he kinks on my helical stacks.

You're a mathematician and a woodworker. I'm fascinated by the basket look of the spiral. Thinking about the math involved, and I've got a good enough idea to take a stab at it.
A simple cylinder would be more straightforward. The flair shape makes it more complex, but I suppose a lot of that perfecting happens on the lathe.
