Pyromania

Figured Maple vase, constructed/ deconstructed on the bandsaw. It was reassembled using some Jerry Bennett techniques that are hazily remembered from many years ago! I started burning the piece and could not stop hence the name!! A few firsts: 1) First time cutting on the finger; I highly suggest adding this "jig" to your shop!! (see Jerry Bennett's shop tour) 2) First time using a torch on a segmented piece. 3) First time gluing more than two sections back together after deconstruction.
Great piece ... very innovative, Russ. A lot of 'firsts' that all came to fruition. I almost didn't notice that inconspicuous band at the neck holding it all together. Size?

As a follow up to this piece’s saga, our Frenchie ate the heck out of this piece…it currently resides in a ziplock baggie in the shop begging to become a collaboration between me and Oliver, haha!! The unforeseen hazards of cooking your wood “just right”!!
