Puriri leaves

2 more of my entries into the Taranaki Woodcraft festival ,
I had trouble deciding which of these pieces were to go in which category.
I thought I would enter into the carving section this time round as I have never done so before .
In the end the 3 legged piece was placed in open carving which included all types from traditional ,chip and indigenous e.t.c so I was rather pleased when this piece a bit of woodturning ! received first in this section
The other piece picked up a third in artistic woodturning so lady luck was with me
The leaves were taken by making paper templates from real leaves

The colour is natural after I sandblasted the pieces

Wonderful forms and the texture is marvelous! Unfortunately the three legs are hidden in this photo. But I like seeing the actual leaves alongside.
