This hollow form was turned green from a Chinese Elm crotch from the Ike Hurricane and given to me by another turner who knew that I liked that species. The blank was cut so that a natural edge bowl could have been the decided turning. However, I decided to do a hollow form that would feature the crotch figure, generally nicely formed in C Elm. This one was not disappointing, other than the wood moved considerably, giving it an organic appearance. The piece is 9 x 3, finished with 3 coats of Waterlox and buffed with the Beall buffing system.
