Japanese Inspired soup bowl- Koma

I have been turning a series of Japanese inspired soup bowls after stumbling upon some articles about traditional Japanese tableware. This is turned from Tasmanian blackwood and is 3" tall and 4" in diameter. It holds 10 ounces.
Both this and the BLM burl koma are very nicely done. For reasons I can't quite put my finger on, the two very different woods make them look quite different to my eye. Perhaps the darker, grained wood shows off the shape more. Curious.

In any case, Well Done!
