Liveoak bowl

11" x 6" finished with 2000 and Tung oil. 3/8ths " wall .
Very nice. It looks a lot like post oak with the strong medullary rays, but I’ve only turned live oak twice which might also have pronounced medullary rays. The only thing that I remember about live oak is that it is wonderful to turn when green, but really hard when it is dry.

This was started green then put away. Brought it back out cracks were minimal, CA'd repetitively the cracks and checks, with those sealed I finished turning. I feel sure it is still curing some but but nothing has opened I am two and three times a day applying liberally 100% Tung oil, until It quits soaking it in then I'll buff it for final finish... so far so good I think it is good we shall see.
