The piece is scorched on the outside and coated it with thinned down Everdure and Epicraft product, which is a two-pack resin. I have used Hebel stone for the plinth for Lost Voyager because of ease of carving and especially the weight; it's probably a quarter of the weight of oamaru stone, which is NZ best-known stone for carving.
I still have the flax to add to Lost Voyager and may be do more work on the plinth. I think it's nearly there.
