Milkweed Butterfly Luminary

This is "Milkweed Butterfly" the third and final luminary I used for the Seattle Woodturners October mini-Symposium. This one was my "just off the lathe" example for the demo and needed pyrography as well as piercing. This photo includes a view of the inner coating. I used Liquitex opal blue opalescent (iridescent) acrylic over a coat of black acrylic. I purposely applied the opal blue with a brush in strips to get the linear gradients you see around the inside. I have a few more photos with different lighting configuration. Let me know if you would like to see them.
