ornamental box
4" tall. Cocobollo. Oil and Wax finish. Multi-axis ornamental turning. 2 patterns repeated 6 times around the surface of the body.
Nice looking piece! What manner of ornamental lathe do you use?

Thanks for the comments!
I use a homemade ornamental lathe which I designed and built in my home shop. The nice thing about it is one can do relief style carving with mathematical percision and with great accuracy.
Thanks for looking!
Henry

I have been admiring your work with the ornimental lathe. Do you have any pictures of it and would you be interested in sharing your plans? Great work!

Walt-
I have some pictures of the lathe on the WOW site:

If you check out the blackwood and paduk piece I posted here earlier, I've included a page of links which will lead you to several online resources for ornamental turning.
Happy Turning!
Henry

The piece is truly beautifully designed with the multi-faceted feature that is extremely difficult to produce on my lathe.
The link you provide above produces an invitation to join the site but it does not produce the lathe images that I expect to find.
Hope you can remedy that. Thanks for sharing.
