Pecan Vase with Brass Finial

Pecan Vase with Brass Finial

I decided to try a different hollow form and finial style using 2-tone Pecan and Brass. I was fortunate to cut the blank to yield near equal amounts of heartwood and sapwood, thus providing a totally different looking vessel when rotated. The bead is also from the same blank and I decided to give it a somewhat oval shape to mimic the vase and to offset the concaveness of the finial. Overall height is about 10.5", width about 4". This Pecan tree fell in a homeboy's yard during Gustav (2008) and nearly destroyed his brand new home.
As always, comments and critiques are much appreciated.
