Scratch Awl

Scratch Awl

I seen the Awl that George made, very nice. This is my version of a scratch awl I did for a challenge by the ASWT club. The wood is Makore and the material for the metal part was a 1/4" hex head bolt. I counter sunk the hex head into the wood so the Awl could be hit with a hammer to be used as a punch also. The ferrule was made from the cap end of a 30-06 shell casing. I friction polished the handle with the wood shavings for my finish.
The head stamp is a nice touch.

Hi Bobby,
Great idea using the hex bolt the way you did. Beautiful work from you as alway.
Thanks for sharing.
