Spalted Maple Chip and Dip Platter

This started turning as a bowl. From bowl to chip and dip platter, the route included a bent gouge - to hang on the wall and a piece of the work piece flying around my head. That forced the design decision to go with the high center and lower outside. The tree was cut down by a neighbor for Firewood. I was lucky in rescuing a few pieces. 10 inches x 3 finished with multiple coats of lacquer.
